What FATE stores
What is recorded
The scenario you type, every decision you make, and the state of the simulation at each turn. Nothing else — there is no account, no email address, and no analytics or advertising script on this site.
Runs are stored in a database and persist until deleted.
Where the text goes
This deployment is running the offline engine, so nothing you type is sent to any third party. Turns are generated locally and deterministically.
Write scenarios you are comfortable sending to a third-party model. A simulation is a fine place for “what if I changed careers”; it is not a safe place for anything you would not put in an email.
How you are identified
One cookie, holding a random token. It exists so that only the browser that started a run can advance it, and so the home page can offer your runs back to you. It is not used for tracking, and it identifies a browser rather than a person — clearing cookies means losing access to your runs.
Who can see a run
Anyone with the link can read a timeline; only the browser that created it can make decisions in it. Links are long random ids and are not listed, indexed, or included in the sitemap — but a link is a key, so share it deliberately.
Deleting a run
There is no self-service delete yet. Send the run’s URL to whoever operates this deployment and it can be removed from the database.
